Mimic Manta Ray Vibrator Review

~I received this product from Betty’s Toy Box for free in exchange for an honest review. This in no way, shape or form has any affect on my opinions on this product.~

Nowadays, there are many unusual looking sex toys out there. Some resemble fruit and vegetables, while others are have a more  ‘fantasy’ look to them. I’ve previously seen dildos that look like the appendages of dragons, dinosaurs, aliens, zombies – but I hadn’t seen a vibrator that was designed to look like a manta ray. Until now.

First Impressions:

The packaging for the Mimic Manta Ray is absolutely gorgeous. A very sleek and stylish looking box with the Mimic pictured on it in a few areas. Inside the box, the Mimic is encased in plastic which is sealed for hygiene. Inside the flap below it is a user manual, charging cable and a storage bag.

The shape of the Mimic is very ergonomic. The curves, or contours of the Mimic make it really easy to hold as I found that my thumb curls naturally under the control buttons. What I also love is the colour. It’s a beautiful sea green – though depending on what you’re using to read this review, you might not be able to see that. The Mimic is made from silky soft silicone, save for the base which is a clear plastic and I’m showing my slight geek side here, but I love how I can see the LED light through the base when the Mimic is being charged. There is a plus and a minus button, and a button in the middle to turn the Mimic on and off. The Mimic is charged via the charging port underneath the flap at the back.

The Mimic is overall, very flexible. The wings or ‘fins’ fold against the body of the toy and the tip can be squished up or down.

My Experience with the Mimic:

How can a vibrator be so beautiful, yet have such bad vibrations? I really wish I had something positive to say about the Mimic. I mean, it has a great design – but is that enough for me to recommend it to a lot of people? Not at all. I found the vibrations to be horrible, they’re so buzzy and not at all powerful like I expected them to be. I tried to achieve an orgasm with the Mimic for almost an hour, but nothing happened. My legs ached really fucking badly, I was extremely tired and sweat was dripping from my face. No, I’m not kidding in the slightest.

I will say that rubbing the tip along my clit was nice, but it did poke me a little too much at times and if you’re someone who likes to apply pressure when using an external toy, fucking forget about it with the Mimic. The tip is just so flexible that it bends away from my clit when I try to apply pressure.

I also tried to use the Mimic as more of a broad vibrator, thinking that maybe it might work better that way. Nope. Still a crappy vibrator that just did nothing, I could barely feel anything in my vulva at all. To begin with, I did think that the Mimic was just buzzy and weak on the lower settings but it seemed like the more I went up in speed, the worse it got. I couldn’t actually work out where the vibrations were coming from because I couldn’t really feel anything, just hear a slight high pitched whine. I eventually gave up with the Mimic, and finished off with a favourite external vibe instead. Although, that took a while to achieve as the vibrations from the Mimic had numbed my clit..

Verdict:

The Mimic has a wonderful design – one of the best I’ve seen, in fact. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that the Mimic is seriously under-powered and the vibrations are incredibly buzzy. It’s far too expensive for what it is, and the only type of person I could recommend it to is someone who enjoys buzzy vibrations and prefers their vibrators to be on the weak side. But if that isn’t you, then stay far away from the Mimic.

  • I share the exact same feeling for this toy. So cute and pretty, yet highly unsatisfying. It could’ve been a great toy with a better motor tough.
